Fundraisers are finally celebrating the installation of a Queen’s jubilee bench - almost two years since the money was raised.
Purleigh Playing Field Association held celebratory events in 2012 for the Queen’s Diamond Jubilee, which raised thousands of pounds.
The association wanted to use the £2,000 they had left over to buy the commemorative bench.
But last March they were told they would face insurance costs of £5million or an annual cost of £200.
Essex County Council said the £5million public liability insurance was needed in case anyone hurt themselves on it.
