A care home that elderly residents fought to save from closure could now become houses.
London and Regional Properties has applied to convert Middleton Manor in Wantz Road, Maldon, into five houses and build four terraced houses behind it.
Residents had called on the support of MPs John Whittingdale and Priti Patel after being given two months notice to leave in February last year.
Larchwood Care, which ran the home, had said it was no longer commercially viable and the age and layout meant it was “no longer consistent” with providing a high quality of care and environment
