Two boats in danger need lifeboat crew
LIFESAVERS were called to two boats which ran into trouble within five hours.
Two people aboard 23 foot yacht, Swift, ran aground in the river Deben on Thursday at 2pm.
Harwich RNLI had to help the sailors after the boat was too high and dry for the Deben ferry to reach them.
With the tide falling rapidly, an anchor was laid at low tide to await the next high tide to refloat the yacht.
No one was injured and the inshore lifeboat returned to station at 3.30pm.
Three people were in danger of drifting into the deep water channel used by container ships after their motor cruiser broke down.
At 7pm on Thursday lifeboat crew travelled to the boat one mile south of Harwich Harbour.
Their anchor was not holding and Harwich inshore lifeboat crew towed the boat, Navillus 5, to Shotley Marina at 8pm.
