A heating problem in Harwich magistrates court will not be fixed before the building is closed at the end of March.
The cells in the building in Main Road, Dovercourt have been without heating since before Christmas, although the rest of the court is not suffering the same problem.
A spokesman for Her Majesty’s Courts and Tribunals Service (HMCTS) said: “As the court is closing at end of March, it has been decided not to spend taxpayer's money on repairing the heating.
“Adult remand cases are being heard at Colchester, with youth cases at Witham or at the nearest convenient youth court."
Colchester’s new £30million magistrates court is nearing completion, and will comprise of five courts and 18 holding cells.
