Superferries lead to super year for Stena

Superferries have helped Stena Line increase users of its Harwich to Holland route.

The ferry operator bucked industry trends by carrying 4.4 per cent more cars on the route than during the previous year.

The company, which introduced two new passenger-freight Superferries on the route in May and October 2010, grew its North Sea car volumes for the fourth year running, reaching a total of 105,000.

Stena Line’s total passenger numbers from Harwich remained above half a million, with 65,000 passengers travelling from Harwich to the Hook of Holland in August and 68,000 in July - the busiest month on the route since 2006 and five per cent more than the same month in 2010.
