The door of Harwich’s council tax collection office is set to close for good in the latest money saving plans.
Tendring Council has announced it will be shutting its four collection offices, in Clacton, Frinton, Weeley and Harwich, which is expected to save £70,000 a year.
But people will now be able to pay at more than 40 outlets, such as shops and post offices.
Tendring Council said it will mean a major improvement to the way cash is collected from residents paying their council bills.
The changes will be phased in over a period of time.
