Youngsters in Harwich are being encouraged to consider a career in logisitics.
Essex County Council (ECC) is jointly funding an apprenticeship scheme in the industry alongside the European Social Fund.
Harwich is seeing major growth in the logistics trade due to the added investment in ports and offshore wind energy.
ECC’s Stephen Castle, cabinet member for Education and 2012 Games said the UK relies on the efficient movement of goods within the UK to ensure they arrive on time, to the right location and in the right condition.
Apprentices will be given the chance to attend either the Colchester Institute or Harwich Skills Centre as well as learning the practical skills required through work placements at logistics companies in the area and will earn a minimum of £96.20 a week.
If you would like more information on becoming an apprentice in the logistics sector, please contact Glynis Argue on 01245 438850.
