ELDERLY victims of burlgaries were left shocked and shaken after burglars broke into their homes at night.
Police are appealing for information about the two burglaries on Saturday night in Harwich and warning residents to secure their homes.
The first incident happened at 9.45pm on March 13 when a would be burglar broke into a home in Vanstittart Street, Harwich.
Nothing was taken as the intruder was disturbed but damage totalling £250 was caused as they The second incident on the same night saw a home in First Avenue, Dovercourt broken into between 10pm and 7am - a television worth about £700 was stolen.
Dc Derek Lee, who is investigating the burglaries, said: “These two incidents happened within a fairly short time of each other and we believe they are linked.
“I would encourage anyone who has any information about what happened that night to get in touch.”
Calvin Heal, Tendring’s crime reduction officer, said: “Both victims are elderly and were understandably left feeling incredibly shocked and upset by the burglaries.
“They now feel unsafe in their own home, which is completely unacceptable.”
He added: “I would encourage all residents to think carefully about the security to their house.
“Invest in surveillance lighting, a burglar alarm and always remember to lock doors and windows, even when you are inside.
