A HEALTH support charity has been given more than £700.

Friends and family of Dorothy Mallinson, who died on September 17 aged 74, donated to the Harwich Fellowship for the Sick instead of buying flowers.

Husband Tom presented the charity with a cheque for £712 in memory of his late wife.

Sheena Parsons, honorary secretary, said: “We are really pleased and really grateful. We have ongoing community projects to pay for, we run the hospital hopper bus and cover all the expenses for that and we’ve just signed a five year contract and are buying a new vehicle next year.

“We also fund the Tendring stroke survivor group so these donations are vital for our work.

“It means a lot to us that they thought of us.”
