A POWERFUL band with a unique sound are set to perform as part of a year-long programme by the Harwich Festival.

Against the Grain first performed as part of the Harwich Festival in 2014 and are set to return by way of popular demand.

Michael Offord, Harwich Festival general manager, said: "Against the Grain will dazzle you with their stunning musical skills and exciting performances.

"Stirring the styles of West Africa, South America and Spain, Jo and Matt create an original blend of musical flavours – from jazz tunes with spoons to original masterpieces on balafon, cajon and flamenco guitar.

"They have a unique sound with an infectious groove."

He added: "Against the Grain provided one of the stand out performances of HF14 we are delighted to be able to bring them back to Harwich as part of our year long-programming to celebrate the launch of their latest album."

Against the Grain will perform at the Hanover Inn, in Church Street, Harwich, at 8.30pm on Wednesday, October 25.
