A GRIEVING family are appealing to find an antique decanter stolen from a Harwich home.

Sonia Pells is trying to track down a green decanter taken from her nan’s home after her death.

The 35-year-old said: “My nan, June Marshall, passed away a year ago.

“Her house in West Street wasn’t lived in, but my mum and auntie and two uncles had been taking things as and when they wanted.

“They went to clear out the house and sort things out – they hadn’t noticed but when they were looking for a couple of bits and realised they had gone.

“When they looked around they realised someone had come in through one of the windows.”

Items taken from the home included a digital radio, silverware, paintings and antiques, some of which were sold on. Sonia added: “There was a green decanter, my grandad bought it years and years ago from an antiques dealer and the family want to try and get that back.

“My nan had it on show – it’s of great sentimental value.”

A police spokesman said: “We are investigating following a burglary at an address in West Street, Harwich.

“It is believed items had been taken from the property between August 6, 2016 and August 31, 2017.

“It is believed some of the items taken have subsequently been sold.

“Inquiries are ongoing.”
