STORIES of mice and dogs are set to have children spellbound at an annual storytelling day.

The Harwich Society is hosting the free event at the Ha’Penny Pier Visitor Centre on Bank Holiday Monday, August 28.

In it’s third year, the event has a team of storytellers led by June Bretherton and featuring Mary Lake, Rosemary Quaintance, Marian Heath and Lesley Elliot.

Lesley Elliot, who co-ordinates children’s activities at visitor centre, said: “There is something quite magical about a group of children listening spell bound to a story and everyone gets caught up in the atmosphere.

“It is a lovely event for all ages and the Harwich Society’s Ha-Penny Pier volunteers are very much looking forward to it.”

There will be a repeat of Bernie Sadler’s popular storytelling walk from last year on the day, which runs from 10.30am to 4.30pm.

“There will be further stories about Septimus the Mouse along with tales of Angel, the dog on the Mayflower, as well as sessions of Throw the Story Cube and Make up a Story,” Lesley added.

“I’m sure that every member of the family will be inspired by the simple pleasure of the Harwich Society storytelling event.”
