BOLLYWOOD dancing, juggling, tightrope walking and even a silent comedy show were just some of the fun at Harwich's first Festival of Imagination.

The Grand Theatre of Lemmings hosted the event last Friday on Harwich Green after a decade of running the town's Children's Carnival.

About 400 youngsters from schools across the Harwich area were treated to performances by Bash Street Theatre and Circus Raj.

Mandy Rose, from the Grand Theatre of Lemmings, said: "We had a great day.

"We made the green look pretty amazing - we brought in a huge circus tent in case it rained and put the craft making workshop, which was making headdresses, and the circus skills workshop in there.

"We've had great feedback from the schools saying though they really enjoyed the carnival they thought the children got more out of this.

"Theatre company Bash Street did a silent movie comedy and the children were spellbound, most have never seen something like that before."

Harwich and Manningtree Standard:

The children tried their hand at juggling, plate spinning, and Bollywood dancing on the day while also enjoying a storytelling workshop.

Mandy added: "It was absolutely lovely, we were delighted with how it went on the first time we have done it."
