TOTS have new swings, slide and a climbing frame at a village play park.
Mistley Parish Council has officially opened the new equipment at the Furze Hill play area in the village.
Martin Rayner, council chairman, said: “The whole project cost £20,000, we got £10,000 from section 106 money and £5,000 from a big lottery grant.
“Previously there was a cradle swing but it was past it’s sell by date, the roundabout was there but it wasn’t accessible.
“And where the climbing frame is was just a piece of concrete before.”
The new equipment at the play area includes a new bucket swing, suitable for children with disabilities who can’t sit unaided, new cradle swings, a new wheelchair accessible roundabout, and a climbing frame and slide for pre-school aged children.
“The whole point was to update it and make it more accessible for those with special needs,” Mr Rayner added.
“Also, we wanted to have something for the very young children.
“We had been asked by Kids Club and others for something for toddlers up to pre-schoolers.
“I’m very pleased with how it looks.”
The council now has plans to install a goal mouth and basketball hoop outside the play area at Furze Hill.
