WORLD famous wrestlers will be going head to head with homegrown heroes in a a star-studded sporting event.

The Wrestling League, based in Harwich, will be taking over Kingsway Hall next weekend for a series of knock out events and the crowning of the King of Bros.

Wrestling fans from far and wide are buying tickets to watch the rare ring appearance of stateside professional wrestler Matt Riddle to appear alongside Bournemouth’s Josh Bodom.

Riddle, who is flying over from Las Vegas for the event, made his wrestling debut in 2015 after a successful career in mixed martial arts and he now goes by the nickname “King of Bros”.

The 31-year-old is recognised as one of the biggest stars in the sport and stands at 6ft 1ins and weighs 209lbs.

His opponent Bodom, who stands at 5ft 11ins and weighs 180lbs, goes by the nickname “The Loose Cannon” and has been a professional wrestler for six years.

There will also be several other matches on the night with WWE star Roy Johnson against Kobre, Gideon vs Mant, Savvy Kidd vs Lion Man as well as appearances from James Castle and many more.

Organiser Mark Young said he is expecting to sell out the hall for the wrestling spectacle.

He said: “I am really looking forward to the event as Riddle has flown in from Las Vegas in America to wrestle, so it will be a huge event for Harwich.

“Harwich is not known for a lot but it is known for the wrestling and people come from far and wide for our wrestling shows.

“We have strong links to major wrestling companies and it is great that we can hold such large scaled wrestling events outside of major cities in the country.

“I want to keep proving that our town can put on the best wrestling events in our brilliant venue in the town centre which can compete with venues in London.”

Doors open at 5.30pm tonight.

Tickets can be purchased on the door at £10 for adults and £5 for children.
