A CHARITABLE resident from Wix is raising money for Breast Cancer Now by braving a London to Paris bike ride.

Rosie Johnson, 23, has already raised almost £500 after swimming 2.4km across the River Stour from Wrabness to Holbrook, but is determined to raise even more by taking up the cycle challenge.

The student completed the swim in 42 minutes despite previously never attempting to swim more than a mile.

“The key preparation was getting acclimatised to the water temperature,” Rosie said.

“From Boxing Day for the next three days I dragged my self down to Wrabness beach and threw myself in.

"Day one was about five minutes of squealing, but gradually I was able to stay in for longer.”

Her next fundraising adventure is taking place in July, when she will be cycling 270 miles alongside a team of Plymouth University students.

“The research done by Breast Cancer Now is so important,” she added.

“They believe that by 2050, every one who develops breast cancer will live.

"If my fundraising efforts can go part way to achieving that, I would be over the moon.”
