A WONDERFUL winter wonderland has been opened by a charity for adults with learning disabilities.

Acorn Village, in Clacton Road, Mistley, opened its Magical Land to the public in a bid to raise funds to improve the lives of its residents.

A Christmas market was held on November 19, raising more than £5,000 for the charity.

A whole host of entertainment was on offer, including a visit from Manningtree’s fire engine and crew.

Mickey and Minnie Mouse spread festive cheer and artificial snow fell from the sky.

The Magical Land is themed around Peter Pan and features Mr and Mrs Christmas in their enchanted grotto, a life-sized polar bear and pirates.

There is also a giant pirate ship, complete with singing crew, Peter Pan, Tinkerbell, mermaids and a large version of dog Nana.

The Magical Land is open from Monday to Friday, from 10am until 4.30pm, until December 16.

Kate Williams, Acorn Village spokeswoman, said: “We would like to say a huge thank you to everyone involved and who came along to the market and supported us, we couldn’t put on events like these without the help of all of the volunteers, the staff and the wonderful residents and tenants.”
