ANOTHER horrified driver has issued a stark warning after he narrowly avoided injury when an object was thrown at his moving car.

Alex Souch, 18, of Dovercourt, was driving home from the cinema in Ipswich at around 11pm on September 1 when his car was attacked.

He had three friends in the car with him and was turning onto the A120 at Horsley Cross when something smashed into his windscreen.

“Something smacked into the windscreen hard, my ears started ringing and I couldn’t hear anything,” said Mr Souch.

“I pulled over at The Cross Inn to calm down.

“I have heard of a few incidents where an object has gone straight through the glass.

“If it is an elderly person driving or someone who is perhaps not as aware, it could be fatal.

“If there had been someone behind me at the time, I slammed on the brakes and that could have been a bad crash.

“While my car was repaired I was using my mother’s to get to work, she is disabled and she wasn’t able to get around.”

Mr Souch added that police had informed him the case had been closed and there would be no further investigation.

He has issued a warning to drivers after hearing of a large number of similar incidents.

Last week Josh Milwain, of Wix, reported driving along the same stretch of road with his girlfriend when a “metal object” was launched into the windscreen.

The pair were shaken and glass was scattered over the inside of the car.

“I have heard apparently someone is hiding in the bushes and doing this,” added Mr Souch.

“Another car came past me at the time of the impact it may well have come from them.

“Police have told me the case has been closed, which I don’t think is good enough,” added Mr Souch.

“The excess I have to pay on my insurance is £75 – money I didn’t want to have to pay at all.

“My message to everyone would be to be very careful, it is annoying the police don’t seem to be looking into it.”

An Essex Police spokesman said: “Police were called to reports of an object thrown at the windscreen of a vehicle in Horsley Cross at around 12.30am on September 2.

“The driver of the vehicle reported an object was thrown out of another vehicle and hit his windscreen, causing it to smash.”

Anyone with any information is asked to call Essex Police on 101.
