Here's a summary of some of the cases heard at Colchester Magistrates' Court last week.

  • A WARRANT has been issued for the arrest of a teenager who failed to answer bail.

Arkim Chigumba, 19, of Tile House Lane, Colchester, was charged with assaulting a female police officer on May 15.

He was due to appear at Colchester Magistrates Court on July 5 but did not attend.

  • A WOMAN will stand trial accused of having class A drugs with intent to supply.

Delisha Haye, 18, was charged with having 6.26g of diamorphine and 2.49g of crack cocaine, both with intent to supply, in Colchester on December 10.

Haye, of Serpentine Close, Chadwell House, denied both charges at a hearing at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on July 5.

She is due to appear at Chelmsford Crown Court for trial on August 2.

A 17-year-old girl from Ilford admitted the same charges and is due to be sentenced at Chelmsford Magistrates’ Court on July 20.

  • A LEARNER motorcyclist was ordered to pay £310 after crashing into two other vehicles without a licence or insurance.

Thomas McMunn, 23, was caught in George Williams Way in Colchester on March 10 without L plates on his Suzuki motorbike after he had crashed into two parked vehicles.

McMunn, who lives in the road, admitted riding the bike without a licence or insurance and driving without due care and attention at a hearing at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on July 5.

He was given six points on his licence, fined £200, and ordered to pay £90 costs and a £20 victim surcharge.

  • A TEENAGER who denies an assault will stand trial at crown court.

Zak Ennew, 19, of Conifer Close, Colchester, denies causing actual bodily harm to Jack Warren in Colchester on February 26.

He is due to stand trial at Ipswich Crown Court on August 2.

  • A 19-YEAR-OLD will be sentenced at crown court after he was charged with making more than 1,000 indecent images of children.

Jason Hockley, of Alyssum Walk, Colchester, was charged with six offences, including five separate counts of making indecent images and videos of children and one count of distributing indecent images of children on social media sites.

Hockley is due to appear at Chelmsford Crown Court for sentence on August 2.

  • A DRIVER has been disqualified for 12 months and ordered to pay £816 after seriously injuring another person in a crash.

Robert Dudley, 27, of Cambridge Road, Clacton, was charged with driving without due care and attention following a crash on the A133 Clacton bypass on November 23.

He was found guilty of crossing the centre white line when coming out of a bend and crashing into an oncoming vehicle, causing it to spin off the road.

Dudley failed to appear at a hearing at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on July 5 and his guilt was proved in his absence.

As well as the 12 month ban, Dudley was fined £660 and ordered to pay costs of £90 and a £60 victim surcharge.

  • A MAN was disqualified from driving for six months after crashing into a lamppost without insurance or the correct type of licence.

Ranu-daniel Stanescu, 23, crashed a Renault Clio into a lamppost in Alamein Road in Colchester on September 15 last year, after turning into the road too fast and leaving the carriageway.

Stanescu, of Gurdon Road, Colchester, admitted driving without due care and attention driving without insurance and driving without the correct type of licence at a hearing at Colchester Magistrates’ Court on July 5.

He was fined £300 and ordered to pay £90 costs and a £30 victim surcharge.
