THIS year’s popular Tendring Show is set to look at the future of farming.

Almost 20,000 people are expected to attend the 101st annual Tendring Hundred Show, at Lawford House Park, Bromley Road, on July 9.

The agricultural and family show will this year include a special i-Farm theme area that will allow visitors to explore robotics and new technologies that are transforming farming and food production.

The Tendring Hundred Show was first held in 1899 and is a unique opportunity to bring the rural and urban populations of north Essex together.

Johnnie Jiggins, chairman of the Tendring Hundred Farmers’ Club, said: “This year’s Tendring Show will be another fantastic occasion.

“There really is something for everyone on the day and we hope as many people as possible will come along and enjoy all the displays, competitions and shopping.

“As a non-profit organisation we rely on and hugely appreciate the support of a dedicated team of local volunteers and our local community.”

This year’s show will also feature the 8ft Titan the Robot, the Food Pavilion with its celebration of regional food and local producers, as well as a children’s activity area with the Dorset Axemen.

They will be demonstrating their skills during a number of shows throughout the day.

There will also be performing dogs, donkeys and dancers and a new children’s treasure hunt.

There will be an art show and lifestyle area, education and outdoor activity area and main ring displays will include new, vintage and modern farming machinery displays.

Animals on show will include guinea pigs, rabbits, sheep, heavy horses and cattle and there will be open air shopping with over 200 trade stands.
