REBEL Tory MP Bernard Jenkin has agreed that George Osborne is talking “b******s” about the European Union.

Harwich and North Essex MP Mr Jenkin was asked if he agreed with outspoken London mayor Boris Johnson’s view on comments made by the Chancellor.

It came after Mr Osborne warned quitting the EU would leave households £4,300 a year worse off.

He said Britain’s economy would shrink by 6 per cent by 2030 if the country replicated Canada’s trading agreements, as advocated by Mr Johnson.

Mr Johnson said warnings from Mr Osborne about the threat to trade from Brexit were “b******s”.

Asked by Talk to me Radio shock jock DJ Jon Gaunt whether he agreed with Mr Johnson, Mr Jenkin said: “Yes.”

Speaking to the Gazette, Mr Jenkin said: “It is completely misleading.

“The UK will be much richer by 2030 whether we are in or out of the EU.

“The Chancellor gives forecasts at the budget and they always have to be changed.

“All the forecasts by the government, the CBI and the think tanks show that the economy will grow whether we are in or out of the EU.

“The question is whether you want to become more integrated in the EU or whether you want to be more like most countries, which are not in the EU.

“If you vote to leave we will get control of the borders and over our own courts – and you also stop contributing to the EU budget, which in total adds up to £350 million a week.

“It’s much more risky to stay in the EU with its migration crisis and Eurozone crisis.”
