A CHARITY open day in memory of a rock star and leisure centre boss has raised £550.
The event was held at Brightlingsea Sports Centre in aid of Cancer Research UK and Macmillan Cancer Support on Sunday.
It was held in memory of Lincoln Anderson, of Wix, who died last September, aged 55, following a long illness.
Lincoln played bass with the legendary Steve Harley and Cockney Rebel and had worked for Tendring Council for more than 20 years and was manager at Brightlingsea Leisure Centre.
The event included activities such as a bouncy castle, fun archery, basketball coaching, spinning, zumba, squash coaching, a cake sale, and tombola.
As part of the open day the Lincoln Anderson five-a-side Memorial Tournament was also staged and a closely contested final was won by the Webbs who defeated the pool’s lifeguard team.
A sum of £440.70 was raised for Cancer Research UK through the football tournament, donations and tombola and MacMillan Cancer Support will receive £113.65 from a cake sale.
