EXTRA police have been added to Harwich Police Station at a time of massive cutbacks across the force with Tendring's top cop saying he expects a rise of human trafficking at the town's port.
Tendring's district commander, Russ Cole said Harwich now has the most officers it has had for years.
Chf Insp Cole spoke about future cuts and his top priorities in Tendring at Lawford Parish Council's latest meeting.
"We have Harwich International Port up the road, I think we have 1.6million foot passengers go through the port, 25 roll on roll off and 300 lorries can get on each boat.
"We are all aware of what's happening in Calais and Hungary.
"I'd be really naive if I didn't expect an increase number of incidents coming my way."
He added: “On September 8 we increased the number of sergeants at Hawich to five and now have 24 PCs stationed at Harwich - that's an increase of one sergeant and four PCs.
"That's the most officers that have been there for some years."
