HUNDREDS of pooches and their owners helped raise vital funds for a centre which helps adults with learning difficulties.

Acorn Village hosted its third annual dog show, which featured more than 500 visitors and 120 four-legged friends, who were entered into various categories.

The event last weekend featured a variety of demonstrations, art workshops, stall and refreshments with an outstanding £3,400 made on the day.

Commercial development and marketing co-ordinator Kate Williams said the day had been bigger and better than ever.

She said: “It was a great way to celebrate our 40th anniversary year and we would like to thank everyone involved.

“Our volunteers were incredible and we really can’t thank them enough.

“We made an amazing £3,400 before costs.

“Funds are currently going towards our new project; a therapeutic home for residents .

“There must also be a huge thank you to everyone who came and supported us.

“They are the ones who make the difference to the lives of adults with learning disabilities.”
