RESIDENTS have been warned they could be slapped with parking tickets on the upcoming bank holiday despite the best efforts of councillors.

Traffic wardens handed out tickets to parked cars of the Lawford Dale estate on the May Day bank holiday earlier this year, despite parish councillors believing rules had been relaxed for public holidays.

Now the council has moved to warn residents the usual restrictions of a one-hour no parking rule designed to stop commuters using the streets to park before their journeys from Manningtree station will still be in place on August Bank Holiday.

Council chairman Dave Ashley said: “The restrictions will remain in place over the August Bank Holiday.”
