A PROMINENT councillor has left his third position within a week.

Carlo Gugliemli resigned as chairman of Tendring Council’s Local Plan after an official complaint regarding his role as a director of eight trust houses at Lawford’s Summers Park development sparked a police probe.

Now he has resigned from his role as a Manningtree Town Councillor after four years but Mr Guglielmi, who is also a Lawford Parish Councillor, and county and district councillor for Manningtree and the surrounding area, said it was purely a case of unfortunate timing.

He said: “It is just I physically cannot get to the Manningtree Town Council meetings because of my other responsibilities.

“I am still the district councillor for Manningtree and myself and my colleague Alan Coley will take it in turns to attend the meetings when I can and do everything I can to support them.

“It is just a big coincidence and a case of very unfortunate timing with everything else which is going on.”
