A KIND-HEARTED port worker has set up a fund to reimburse colleagues who have been left without pay for five weeks after a security firm went into administration.

Employees from Taylor Made Secure Solutions, who are based at Harwich International Port, have missed out on five weeks’ wages after the firm entered administration two weeks ago.

Security staff may be able to eventually claim the cash back from the government’s National Insurance fund, but the 18 customer support advisers, who are also employed by Taylor Made Secure Solutions, do not qualify for the scheme.

Now Greg Mann, who has worked at the port for 11 years, has decided to set up a crowdfunding website to help the 18 employees who cannot claim back the money they are owed.

He said: “They have been put into an absolutely shocking situation and it has really hit home how bad things can be for some people.

“Five weeks is a really long time to go without being paid, especially since they actually put the hours in and did the work.”

Administrators Resolve have now stepped in and it is believed workers will be paid for the subsequent time they work.

The target for donations is £4,000.
