MORE than a hundred people turned out to hear a presentation on how to keep youngsters safe online.
About 150 parents, teachers and staff attended the talk by PC Alan Williams at Highfields Primary School, in Lawford.
PC Williams dealt with a number of issues, including child sexual exploitation over the internet and how parents can lessen the risks.
Pupils at the school had already completed workshops on online safety and had invited their parents to the presentation by designing their own invitations.
The event was also attended by Essex police and crime commissioner Nick Alston and district police commander for Tendring, Russ Cole.
Pc Williams said: “Social media and the internet are part of everyday life for children and young people today. Unfortunately, parents and carers are still playing catch-up inadigital world that may seem completely alien to them.”
