WORK on lifts at Manningtree train station could start in October.
Currently, the only way to cross platforms is to use steep narrow stairs to get to the subway.
For people who cannot use the stairs, the alternative is to wait for a station worker to escort them over the track.
Tendring Council gave the plans the green light in May last year.
At a meeting of Lawford Parish Council on Monday, chairman Dave Ashley said the work was due to start on the lifts later this year.
