WORLD-CLASS windsurfers hit Dovercourt’s waves at the weekend for a top two-day international event.
Some 70 competitors from as far away as Australia, France and Poland arrived for round three of the BSA Slalom Championships.
Organiser Darren Herbert (right), of Quiver Windsurfing, based at Dovercourt Boating Lake, was delighted with the success of the contest, which included tuition for youngsters and live music, alongside the main event.
He said: “The whole weekend went really well and everyone was telling me how happy they were with it.
“The heats were done in the worst wind conditions possible, but now I have had it confirmed that the event will be coming back next year I think if we had better weather, it would be brilliant.
“There were lots of kids learning on the lake and everyone was really happy.”
