A PARADE and service in Manningtree will mark 100 years since the Gallipoli campaign during the First World War.
The Manningtree and District branch of the Royal British Legion is holding the event at the war memorial in High Street at 11am on Sunday.
The parade, comprising veterans, Legion members and cadet units, will leave South Street at around 10.50am.
Wooden crosses and commemoration pins will be available on the day with donations going to the Poppy Appeal.
The High Street will be closed from the junction of South Street to Wherry corner from 10am until midday.
Hearts Delight in Lawford supplied two flower troughs for the wooden crosses to be placed in.
Fighting began in Gallipoli on April 25, 1915, and the campaign finished on January 9, 1916, with the Allies having lost around 214,000 men.
