A RESIDENTIAL road will be turned into a "parking nightmare" if plans to scrub out yellow lines go ahead, it has been claimed.

Harwich Town Council has written to residents on The Drive in Dovercourt asking for feedback on proposals to lift parking restrictions on the street, which currently ban parking between 9am and 7pm from May to September.

But resident Kate Wilson has hit out at the proposal and said the issue is being rushed.

"We are on a bus route, if you get cars either side of the road the bus get through - it will be a nightmare," she said.

Maria Fowler, chairwoman of Harwich Town Council's environment and community committee, which put forward the plans, said: "The decision was a committee decision and it really is only at this stage a consultation to make sure it's fair to all the residents in The Drive to ask their opinion and get feedback."

n Maria Fowler is standing in the upcoming election for both Tendring Council and Harwich Town Council. For a full list of candidates click here.
