CANDIDATES fighting for your votes will be put on the spot at an election hustings in Harwich on Sunday.

The prospective Parliamentary candidates for Harwich and North Essex will answer questions sent in by members of the public.

The event takes place at St Nicholas’ Church, in Church Street, from 7.30pm.

The Harwich and Manningtree Standard has teamed up with the church, which is hosting the event to give people in the constituency a chance to hear the candidates speak on a variety of topics.

Entrance is free and the candidates will not be allowed to see the questions before the live event.

Going head to head are Conservative Bernard Jenkin, Labour’s Edward Carlsson Browne, Liberal Democrat Dominic Graham, Ukip’s Mark Hughes and Green candidate Christopher Flossman.

The idea was masterminded by the Rev Peter Mann. Mr Mann will act as chairman for the event and put the submitted questions to the candidates.

Each candidate will be given the opportunity to make an opening speech before they start answering the questions.
