A MUSIC school is launching an innovative project for unemployed youngsters in Harwich.

We are Music, formerly known as Harwich Rock School, is offering young people out-of-work over the age of 19 a chance to organise and run a live gig.

The Get Known Live Gig is a TCHC Community Funded project financed by the European Union Social Fund and the Skills Funding Agency.

It is free and runs every Friday for ten weeks between 11am and 6pm, starting this Friday.

We are Music, based behind the former magistrates’ court inMain Road, Dovercourt, will also pay for bus fares and provide lunch.

Chris Scott, trustee, said: “We hope this project will help kick-start chances for them to enter the creative industry and into self employment.”

Split between the We are Music base and Kingsway Hall in Dovercourt, the project will finish with a gig open to the public on June 20.

Spaces are limited. To book or for more details, call or text Toby on 07713 336919 or e-mail
