FRESH fears have arisen about the future of a mental health unit in Dovercourt.
A patient at All Saints House, in Main Road, has received a letter from her doctor stating staff are unsure of the future and services in the town.
This comes just two weeks after the North Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust, which runs the facility, told the Standard there were no plans to close the centre and although some clinical staff would not be based permanently at the unit, services would continue for the foreseeable future.
Harwich town councillor Maria Fowler read out an excerpt from a letter sent to a patient at the town’s meeting on Wednesday night, which prompted concerns for the facility.
Speaking after the meeting, she said: “The person who has received this letter is quite upset with the situation and All Saints House is important to her because of her health issues.
“She also has some physical health problems, which make it hard for her to travel, but she can go to All Saints because it is not far from where she lives.”
Harwich Town Council agreed to write to the North Essex Partnership Foundation Trust to clarify the situation regarding mental health services in the town.
The North Essex Partnership University NHS Foundation Trust reitarated that there were no plans to close All Saints House.
