JAZZ, art and folk music are all coming to Harwich’s Electric Palace next week.

Three days of events will kick off with Vincent van Gogh: A New Way of Seeing on Tuesday.

The Exhibition on Screen film has been two years in the making and provides a biography of Van Gogh’s life, including exclusive access to Amsterdam’s Van Gogh Museum, which was undertaking a complete rehanging of his work.

The feature film marks the 125th anniversary of his death.

Producer Phil Grabsky said: “Van Gogh’s life is shrouded in myth and misunderstanding. “How many times have you heard that Van Gogh only sold one painting in his lifetime? That’s just one of the myths.“

The film starts at 7.30pm and tickets cost £12.50.

On Wednesday, folk singer Fabian Holland will be performing his brand of evocative, often moody and melancholic music at the historic cinema.

His bluesy numbers are offset with upbeat tracks, including acutely observed people and places dressed with wry humour.

Fabian grew up listening to artists like Sonny Boy Williamson and Muddy Waters, who have inspired him as he continued his career.

A trio of jazz musicians will be gracing the stage on Thursday.

Normandy-based band Clarinette Marmelade create a unique sound with their clarinet, bass saxophone and banjo line-up.

They play music of the 1920s and 30s New Orleans and Chicago jazz age, and were one of the highlights of Jazz Fest Chateauneuf du Faou in France last year.

Both gigs get under way at 8pm, with tickets costing £10.
