AN ancient oak tree which has been ravaged by fire and been home to a nest of hornets could be named as a special geological location.
A resident wants to nominate Old Knobbley, on Furze Hill, as an Earthcache. An Earthcache is a location people can visit to learn about a unique feature of the Earth.
Information on the tree would be stored on a page along with co-ordinates directing people to its location.
The guidelines state each Earthcache must provide an earth science lesson and must be educational.
Jacquie Denniss has asked Mistley Parish Council for support to nominate the 800-year-old tree.
