RESIDENTS are invited to find out more about new homes planned for the former Bernard Uniforms’ factory site in Harwich at an Information Day.

Staff from Colne Housing, the Essex-based housing association, its developers Iceni Homes and the architect will be on hand to answer questions.

Martin Buddery, of Colne, said: “We are holding an information day to give local residents and other interested parties the opportunity to view the proposed plans and input in to the design.”

Colne has submitted plans to build 27 homes for affordable rent on the derelict site in Main Road.

The properties, a mixture of one and two bedroom flats and two and three-bedroom houses, some with sea views, will be allocated to people on the Tendring Council housing register, with priority given to those who have lived in the area for the past three years.

There are currently about 1,200 families on the Tendring list.

The drop-in event will be held on Tuesday, from 4pm to 7pm at the 1912 Hall in Cow Lane, Harwich. Tendring Council will have the final say on the plans.
