A £15,000 survey to assess a road councillors claimed was dangerous has found drivers were travelling at speeds below the 30mph limit.

Manningtree Town Council proposed traffic-calming measures were installed in the town’s Brook Street in 2012.

Despite not having any accidents on the road, there were concerns drivers were flouting the 30mph speed limit and failing to slow down for the junction.

The Highways Panel has now told councillors the traffic-claiming scheme will not go ahead.

Speaking at Manningtree Town Council on Thursday Carlo Guglielmi said: “They have given a whole list of reasons that work should not take place."
