YOUNG actors will become television stars when they perform part of their nativity play in front of millions of viewers.

Mistley Norman Primary School is sending 19 pupils aged five and six to ITV studios in London on December 17 to appear on daytime favourite This Morning after winning a competition.

The popular magazine show, which has been running since 1988, will line up schools from around the country to perform different scenes from the traditional Christmas story.

Headteacher Amanda Woolmer is excited for her pupils to be the stars of the show, which is currently hosted by Phillip Schofield and Amanda Holden.

“Our Key Stage One manager Karen Manning was watching This Morning during half-term and they were asking for schools who were interested to apply,” she said. “She then sent in a form saying we were a very small school, but would love to come and take part in their nativity scenes.

“Then, two weeks later, we had a phone call saying we had been chosen.”

She added: “We will be performing the scene where the angels appear to the shepherds before they travel to see the baby Jesus.

“All of the children are extremely excited and so are all their parents and teachers, but the producers have not been able to guarantee who will be presenting on the day yet."
