WORK on the biggest development Lawford has seen in two decades is set to start by the spring.
Tendring Council’s planning committee unanimously supported the plans to build 150 homes on land off Cox’s Hill, Lawford, on Tuesday night.
Rose Builders now hopes to begin work on the development as soon as February next year.
Steven Rose, managing director of Rose Builders, said: “We are delighted.
“This project will not only deliver much-needed new housing for Lawford, it will deliver real community benefits that would otherwise just not happen.
“Negotiations are well under way with the high school to deliver a new floodlit multi-user games area adjacent to the existing sports centre for both school and community use out of school hours, an enlarged school playing field and new coach and bus park that will enhance the schools and the community sporting facilities and help relieve traffic congestion on Colchester Road.”
More than 100 people have already registered an interest in buying homes at the new Summers Park.
