A FILM charting the history of the Guy Carnival will be screened at the Electric Palace this weekend.

Chris Root, who has also written a scrapbook about the historic event, made the short feature alongside his brother Dan.

“It is a combination of existing footage which my grandmother had in her loft, research and some still images,” said Mr Root. “Although I compiled the research, Dan helped out with the animation so it was a joint project.

“Together they create a fourand- a-half-minute stroll through the carnival’s 160-year history.

“When we were offered the chance to have it shown at the Electric Palace we jumped at the chance.

“I have been involved in the carnival for 25 years and had a small float at the back on Saturday.”

Free screenings will be held at the cinema in Harwich on Saturday and Sunday at 5pm and bosses may also show the film before other films in the future.
