DWINDLING supplies at Tendring’s foodbanks need to be restocked in time for Christmas.

A campaign is calling for residents to donate food to prepare the vital foodbanks for the festive season.

Earlier this year it was revealed vulnerable residents and families in Harwich and Manningtree were relying on foodbanks after struggling to make ends meet.

Tendring’s Community Builder project ran an event in February which saw residents donate more than £1,200 of goods.

Diane Boyd, of the project, is currently recruiting volunteers to help December’s campaign.

“Once again it will be a real team effort with everyone pulling together to support the initiative,” she said.

To combat the crisis, Tendring Council has joined forces with Tendring’s Citizens Advice Bureau, Sainsbury’s and Essex County Fire and Rescue Service for a special Community Food Drive Donation Day in Clacton on December 12.

The scheme is being supported by the Harwich and Manningtree Standard.
