A DEVELOPER has failed to hand over more than £32,000 to a town for community projects seven months after its deadline.
Furious councillors have branded the breach of planning conditions, which stated the cash should be given before work began, as “scandalous”.
Work is now complete at the former Harwich County Primary School on Main Road and For Sale signs have been put up on the site.
Harwich town councillor David Flavell said the money was to be used on improving open spaces as part of a legal agreement with Tendring Council.
“I am really disappointed – it is absolutely scandalous,” he said.
“They should not be offering the flats for sale. It is not acceptable.”
Nigel Brown, Tendring Council’s communications manager, confirmed there had been a breach of a notice issued in March.
Developers Eastward Properties declined to comment.
