ROAD bosses have been accused of “fobbing off” residents and councillors after delays to promised works at notorious accident blackspot junctions.
Last year, the agency announced plans for a 50mph speed limit and average speed cameras near Pellens Corner and Hare Green.
Work was originally due to start in March, but was pushed back to July and again to September.
Tendring Council has written to the Highways Agency in a bid to force progress on the scheme.
Essex County Council has backed Tendring Council’s calls for action.
Rodney Bass, cabinet member for highways, said: “Speed cameras on this stretch of road are a necessity but, although promised, have still not been installed. Until measures are in place, this stretch of road continues to be at high risk of further serious accidents.”
