A FATAL accident at notorious accident blackspot junctions has left roads bosses with “blood on their hands” campaigners have claimed.

A 90-year-old driver was killed after his car was involved in a collision with a HGV at the Hare Green junction.

Councillors and campaigners have called on the Highways Agency to accept responsibility for the crash which followed delays to interim safety measures.

Phil Armstrong, A120 campaigner, said: “Everyone involved at any stage of the Hare Green project should hang their heads in shame.

“Tragically due to the Highways Agency's ignorance in acting on the dangerous stretch of road they created and the continual stalling on the installation of speed cameras a life has been unnecessarily lost.

“I’m bewildered and so angry. They have blood on their hands. They should be held responsible for this.”
