A HARWICH lifeboat volunteer saved a pet dog after he fell 30ft off the edge of a cliff.
Patterdale terrier Archie ran off the cliff on Walton’s Backwaters and was trapped on the beach with the tide coming in.
His panicked owner, Maxine Rule, called the coastguard, who sent Harwich’s inshore lifeboat to the scene.
RNLI crewman Darren Priestnall plucked Archie, six, from the water and waded back to the lifeboat.
Maxine, 44, and her partner Kevin, with his dog Lexi, were on a day trip from Hertfordshire.
She said: “I would like to thank the Harwich RNLI very much, especially the man who had to get out of the lifeboat and carried Archie to safety.“
