A 100-year-old church has been put up for sale eight months after it held its final service.
St Paul’s Church in Parkeston closed to public worship in January after it was found repairs were financially unviable.
The bill was in the region of £200,000 after vandalism and lead theft left the building in a poor state of repair.
The Diocese of Chelmsford took over the building and secured it while it looked for an alternative and suitable use. Now the church has been put up for sale for £125,000.
It is being marketed by Palmer and Partners with suggestions the building would be most suited to storage but could have potential to be redeveloped in the future.
A spokesman for the Diocese of Chelmsford said: “The closure and marketing of St Paul’s building follows press publicity, a consultation and a public meeting organised by the Church of England Commissioners."
