YOUNG poets and photographers have the chance to meet a television weather girl as part of a competition.
Good Morning Britain’s meteorologist Laura Tobin will judge the Weather and Wildlife photography contest and Wild Weather Poetry competition which is open to Harwich and Dovercourt High School students and youngsters at local primary schools.
Laura has appeared on new bulletins on both ITV and the BBC and will present prizes including a Kindle Fire tablet, Canon digital camera and theatre tickets to the winners.
Harwich and Dovercourt High School library manager Andrew Dace said: “Our aim is to inspire children to take an interest in wildlife and raise awareness of how extremes of weather, such as the severe flooding which hit parts of the country earlier this year, can affect the environment and people’s lives.
“Laura has kindly agreed to judge the competition and will present prizes at the school later this year.”
Entry forms are available from the business reception at the school, Harwich Library or online at Harwich.essec.sch.uk.
They must be sent via post to Mr Dace at the school, or via email to wildpoetry@harwich.essex.sch.uk or wildphoto@harwich.essex.sch.uk by Friday October 10.
