SOLAR farm campaigners are gearing up for another fight after shelved plans were resubmitted to Tendring Council.

Energy giants Lightsource want to build a 4.2 Megawatt solar farm capable of powering 1200 homes on Barn Farm in Wix Road, Bradfield.

The original application was withdrawn in December for studies to be carried out into the possibility of great crested newts on the site.

Now representatives from campaign group Wix Against Solar Proliferation are determined to continue their fight against the perceived industrialism of the village.

Spokesman Ed Abbott said: “The plans would have a massive visual effect on drivers travelling from Harwich to Manningtree on the B1352.

“It would be there facing you like a big plastic mirror.”

Business development director of Lightsource Conor McGuigan said: “We had to withdraw our solar farm proposals in January to allow for further ecological studies to be carried out following comments from Natural England in relation to the great crested newt.

“Lightsource engaged consultants to undertake studies to determine the presence or absence of the newts and between March and June none were observed."
